CSA FAQs

What is CSA?

CSA (short for Community Supported Agriculture) is a way to buy local food directly from a farmer. As a CSA member, you will purchase a "share" of a farm's harvest in advance. This upfront investment provides farmers with much-needed capital to cover the costs of seeds, equipment, and labor before the growing season begins. In return, CSA members receive a share of the farm's bounty throughout the growing season.

What if I can't make the pickup time?

We always encourage you to coordinate having a friend or family member pick-up anytime you will miss CSA day. If they need help finding us, just give us a shout! If you can't arrange an alternative pick-up just give us 48 hours notice and we'll cancel your box.

If you miss CSA pick-up please contact us immediately piedmontfarmstead@gmail.com or 828-850-7339. We will try to coordinate an extended pick-up. However, we cannot always meet the need of alternative schedules and it is our general practice to donate any unclaimed shares. There is no refund for unclaimed shares.

Returns or refunds

CSA is a partnership between the members and the farmers. At the core of CSA is the idea that members support their farmer by sharing in the inherent risks of agriculture (poor weather, drought, disease, early frost, crop failure, and so on) and rewards (the bounty from a good season!). Therefore while we will act in good faith to provide fresh produce for the the full share weeks, there is a no guarantee of quantities or contents of weekly shares.
